25 July 2011: Diamond’s I03 Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) beamline was used to solve the 3D structure of the protein D13 from Vaccinia virus (VACV), a member of the poxvirus family. The research recently published in Structure was carried out by scientists from Oxford’s Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics and Diamond Light Source and expands on our knowledge of the ancestry of viruses, ultimately aiming to identify better treatments in the future.
