Diamond Light Source Image of the Week

04 July 2011: First light. At around 1:00 am on Wednesday 29 June 2011, Diamond science and technical teams achieved first light in the external building of the long X-Ray Imaging and Coherence beamline I13. Christoph Rau, Principal Beamline Scientist for I13 says, “The dot we observed last night is the visible evidence for over 4 years of collective effort. Our previous exercises helped us to steer the beam through all pipes and apertures over more than 200m distance onto the detector screen.”
