24 October 2011: Optics Scientist Dr Hongchang Wang inspects the high-precision polarimeter recently installed on Diamond’s Nanoscience beamline, I06. Polarisation is an intrinsic property of electromagnetic waves and is widely used in everyday life in anything from 3D movies to satellite communications. The polarimeter on I06 is used to measure the polarisation characteristics of X-rays from the first variable polarisation insertion device built and installed by Diamond.
