17 October 2011: There are ten entrances into the storage ring at Diamond, each taking the form of a ‘labyrinth’ – a 90° turn to the right, followed by a 90° turn to the left before you enter the heart of the machine – a path which the light produced by the synchrotron cannot follow. The entrances are divided into PSS zones, or Personal Safety System zones, to identify the different sections of the storage ring. Image featured on the Dere and Swete photoblog
